And the winner of our FoodE mascot contest is… Terrix!

In the search for a FoodE mascot, primary school pupils from all over Europe took part in a mascot drawing competition. After a careful and critical evaluation of all the designs that were received, the jury decided that Terrix will be our FoodE mascot!

Terrix has been made by Filippo, a pupil from Scuola Aldo Moro in Bologna, Italy. According to the jury, Terrix was the best embodiment of the spirit of FoodE. The pot of soil with a tiny plant growing from it represents the small-scale initiatives involved in FoodE. Through local food initiatives, FoodE wishes to encourage short supply chains, which make our food system more resilient and future-proof. Due to their local or regional character, they also boost local economies, create jobs, facilitate social inclusion, and educate children. In other words, they are true heroes!

Terrix will play an important role in the animation that FoodE will create in the context of KidScience. The animation will be used to educate children about the importance of local and regional food chains and the challenges that our current food system faces.

Next to Terrix, a lot of good ideas for mascots were submitted. Therefore, the jury decided that all superheroes and superheroines will be part of a series of comics that will be made in the coming months.
