The conference entitled “Svetovni dan hrane, Gojimo, hranimo, ohranjajmo. Skupaj” is one of the main events celebrating the World Food Day in Slovenia. The interdisciplinary conference is at the interface of policy and practice. It is organised in a partnership between governmental and educational sectors (European Center for Peace and Development, European Food Technology Network and GRM Novo mesto – Centre of Biotechnology and Tourism).
The event was transformed from an initially hybrid event into a fully online one, which was streamed live via a Youtube channel and attended by over 150 people. The event showcased ongoing and concluded projects in the area of food and nutrition, and enabled topical discussions on research and policy in this field, including food waste, education and supply chain optimisation.
Dr. Jerneja Penca and Tina Črnigoj Marc from Arctur presented the FoodE project, focusing on the activities it will undertake in Slovenia. The main highlight were:
- The pilot project “Prison Honey” which will be located in Ljubljana;
- The activities, which will be organised in schools in the context of MyLocalFoodE;
- The presentation of the concept of the FoodE App prototype.
